The line chart illustrates how much money spent on books in 4 different countries from 1995 to 2005.

It is noticeable that despite some minor fluctuations, there were raise trends, which is recorded in 4 nations. The expenditure on books, in Germany, was the highest in comparison with the remaining countries.

In 1995, German citizen spent around $80 million on books. The spending figures in France and Italy were similar, stood at 55 and 50 million dollars respectively, whereas the figure for Austria was much lower at just 30 million.
Throughout the 20-year period, the amount of money spending in Germany continued to be higher than the other 3 countries, it reached a peaked of nearly $100 million in 2005. The figure for Austria recorded a significant increase, and it took over that of Italy which was just nearly $60 million in 2005. In France, the expenditure on books saw a steady rise over the period, and this finally reached a figure of $75 million in 2005
