The diagram of water cycle
The diagram above depicts how water is cycled.
Overall, water cycle consists of various steps. The process starts when high surface snow melts, then goes to the ocean from where evaporates to form a cloud, and ends with precipitation.
The first stage of the water cycle is when the snow melts from the mountains and becomes groundwater. Another source of groundwater are lakes. Next, since it is not able to penetrate through impervious layers, the groundwater travels to oceans. Once it reaches the ocean, the groundwater mixes with salt water.
Afterward, the rays of the sun make the water evaporate (approximately 80% of total water vapour in the air comes from the ocean). At high altitudes, above the ocean, water steams get condensed, before the process of cloud formation. The last step in the water cycle is precipitations when the water returns to the world surface in the form of rain. Having
completed all these steps, the water cycle will then begin again.
