The bar chart below shows the average rainfall for Australia by month for last year. The line shows the average rainfall for Australia by month for the last 40 years.
Both graphs depict the average rainfall for Australia from January to December. The difference was, the bar graph was for last year and the line graph was for the last 40 years.
Overall, it was clear that for both periods the first three months had the highest rainfall and after six months, the lowest period for both years were recorded.
40 years ago, the highest rainfall happened in January with an average of almost 80 mm. It dramatically decrease until the month of September wherein, three-fourth difference was noticed compared to the average rainfall in the beginning of the year. In September, the lowest rainfall was recorded around 20 mm. In contrast, the rainfall suddenly rise from the month of October until it reached over 50 mm at the end of the year.
Last year’s rainfall, that was illustrated through the bar graph, it was also noticeable that the first three months the rainfall were high at around 60-70 mm. A sudden drop to almost 20mm happened in April and increased to over 40 mm after a month. The rainfall started to decrease again from the month of June until October and the lowest peak reached less than 20 mm for both months ( August and October). Apparently, a remarkable rise of rainfall happened in the last two months of the year averaging to around 40 mm.
