The given bar chart gives information about the numbers for imprisonment in five nations from 1930 to 1980.

Overall, it can be seen that in 1930, Canada had highest number of prisoners, which replaced by the United States in 1980. However, Great Britain had least figures of imprisonment throughout the 50 years.

Categorically speaking, in 1930 and 1940, the Great Britain had almost 29,000 prisoners. However, there were 120,000 prisoners in Canada. Newzeland and the United States shared same figures, which was 100,000 and the imprisonment numbers in Australia were around 60,000, in 1930. In 1940, the United States had nearly 130,000 prisoners, which declined by 20,000 in 1950. Moreover, the trend was similar in the year 1960 as it was in 1940. The figures for imprisonment in the Great Britain, Australia and Newzeland were 80,000 in 1970. Nevertheless, around 50,000 imprisonments in Australia and the United States accounted for 140,000 in the year 1980.
