The diagrams compare the total of yearly expenditure of an educational institution in The United Kingdom in three decades (from 1981 to 2001). Overall, teacher’s wages responsible for the biggest spending, while insurance contributed the smallest proportion among the spending. Besides, the amount of money spent on insurance saw a significant increase during the period.
In 1981, teacher’s salaries and workers’ wages contributed as the largest share of school expenditure, while the former accounted for more than a third, the latter observed 28%. furniture and equipment, and material resources comprised a similar number of 15% each, while insurance shared a small percentage of the spending (2%).
1991 observed a significant increase in insurance expenditure (precisely 1%) followed by material resources from 15% to 20% and teacher salaries from 40% to 50%. In contrast, both furniture and equipment and other workers’ salaries saw a significant decrease by precisely 66% and 22% respectively.
There was a most rise in the amount of money spent on furniture in 2001 (from 5% in 1991 to 23%) and equipment of about twofold. In contrast, the total spending on material resources decreased by 11%. Also, two remaining components, other workers’ and teachers’ salaries decreased at about 7% and 5% respectively.
