The given maps demonstrate the main features of Pentland – a coastal town before and after 57-year development.
By comparing the 1950 and 2007 maps, we can see clearly that changes in this region are noteworthy. Many residents moved to Pentland because of new convenient facilities that have been built over the said period
The major structure with a main and two bisecting roads remained similar. However, the industrial area located in the northwest part of the town was replaced by a park, a swimming pool and a multi- storey car park in 2007. The car park on the east side of the main road was removed. In this area, in 2007, people constructed many shops and several apartments.
To the southeast side of the Pentland, there used to be grassland in 1950. But 57 years later, it was converted into a residential area with a lot of houses. To the left of this area is the place with almost nothing in the past. Then, in 2007, a cinema was built here to serve the citizens of the town. Finally, after over a haft of a century, the sea was developed into Yacht Marina, being covered by a haft-circled road.
