You work for an international company and need to take some time off work to celebrate a family event. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter
- give details of the family event and why it is important you attend
- say how much time you will need away from the office
- suggest how your work could be covered while you are away
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I want a one-month vacation to go to my hometown as there are two prime reasons. The first reason is that I have not seen my mother for at least 1.5 years, and I wish to meet her and check the status of her living conditions. Another reason is that I have to attend a family event which is coming in the next three weeks.
It is my cousin's marriage, and my presence is utterly important because I have to take my mother and represent myself as a head member of the family after my late father. I hope you would understand the family responsibilities to take over if you are parents made you a head member of your family. This kind of responsibility involves multiple things in our culture, and one of those things is to attend family parties like marriage to perform rituals that require the participation of relatives in our Indian weddings.
I need at least a month's vacation because the celebration of Indian weddings takes at least 10 to 14 days and another reason is that I have to meet all my old friends who are living in India. We had already decided to spend a holiday at some exotic destinations which was planned a long time ago before getting married and it is a great chance for me to complete my travel bucket list on the next month's leave if you grant your approval from this letter.
You do not need to worry about the work as I will be available online from home during the first two weeks of the holiday to attend meetings through Skype with our clients as we have to complete the project. Plus, I have informed my teammates to complete the pending tasks left while I will be away from the office premises. My team will manage my work and I have aligned the experienced professionals to complete all the relative tasks. I hope you will grant me a one-month vacation, and I will be grateful for your kind approval.
I am looking forward to hearing a positive response.
Yours faithfully,
Shwatank Bhasin
