The line graph shows change in the percentage of cars used within household in Great Britain during the period between 1971 and 2007.
Overall, the number of households that owned one car along with three and above cars virtually stayed remained through the years. There were extremely slight increases inserting into stable state expressed through change of families who possessed more than two cars. The two most remarkable upward and downward tendency belonged respectively to two cars owners and no cars owners.
The year 1971 witnesses half a British households didn't use car, which was the highest number at that time. Standing at about 44%, families that own one car was a little fewer. During three next decades, its proportion stabilized approximately around this point. There was a noticeable gap between one car owners and two cars ones expressed in nearly four times fewer amount of two cars used per household. The bigger numbers of cars was the most unpopular. With only 3% and a rise up to 7% in 2007, having possession of more than two cars hadn't been familiar to citizens.
Since the end of 1970s, the percentage of two cars owners started to climb up. From 10% at that time, the period onwards observed a sharply growth resulted in staying at 26 % in 2007, equal to half of some of one cars and three or above cars within households. It became the second common type for the British after that of one car, which had still remained in 1971. Changing in an opposed way, in comparison with mentioned trend, the percentage of no car household fell dramatically. In 2007, there was a point at 25%, nearly a half fewer than it was at the beginning. As a result, the top position in 1971 replaced by third one after 36 years.
