The graph shows in percentage terms the changing patterns of domestic access to modern technology in homes in the UK.
The given graph illustrates the proportion of the British using modern technology in homes over the course of 8 years starting from 1996.
As can be seen from the graph, it is clear that the percentage of users in all newest devices witnessed an upward trend. It is also apparent that the figure for CD players was by far the highest while the least was the Internet access over the full period.
In 1996, there was almost 60% of people used CD players. This number went up significantly and reached the peak of about 80% after 8 years. A roughly similar trend was seen in the number of home computers, where it grew from approximately 30% to 58% throughout the period.
The allocation of people using cell phones was nearly 20% at the beginning of the period. This figure fluctuated between its original number and 70% for the rest of the time frame. In 1998/99, Internet access appeared in the UK and accounted for only 10%, then followed by a sharp increase by more than 30% to almost 50% in 2002/03
