Essay topics:

The line chart details the proportion of residents living in Australia in millions from different regions between 1976 and 2011.

The line graph gives information about how many residents from various regions lived in Australia during the period from 1976 to 2011.

Overall, the total number of immigrants in Australia increased dramatically until the end of the period after seeing a continual decrease. It is also clear that there was an upward trend in the number of UK residents, whereas Asia and other areas showed a reverse pattern.

In 1976, the population of British people stood at around 14 million as opposed to about 6 million of Asian ones, after which the former experienced a continuous fall to merely 5 million people in 2011 while the latter saw an opposite change, growing to hit its highest point of 15 million people.

In comparison, starting at roughly 11 million people migrating from other regions of the world, the figure for this group dropped by nearly 3 million in 1986, but then went up noticeably to just under 15 million in the next 20 years before ending at approximately 13 million people at the end of the period. In general, the total population of immigrants in Australia declined constantly from 23 million to 19 million in the first two decades, followed by a dramatic rise to peak at 25 million fifteen years later.
