The line graph compares information about the number of men and women smokers who smoked in 1900 and 1950 in Britain.
It is clear that the number of male smokers dropped significantly in Britain over a period of 50 years, while there was a gradual fluctuation in the rate of women smokers over the period shown.
It is observed that the rate of male smokers experienced a steady reduction from around 620 to 520 in the years 1900 and 1920, which was a decrease of 100. Between the years 1920 and 1935, there were about 520 people who smoked, mostly men, which dropped moderately to almost 380, a fall of 140 out of 1000 people in 15 years. Over the next 15 years, the figure of men who smoked in Britain reduced by 180, to 200, from 380.
On the other hand, there was a Sharp growth in the rate of female smokers roughly 90 in 1900 and 350 in 1920 as opposed to the number of women who smoked in the UK remained stable which showed at 350 from 1920 to 1930. In contrast, the decrease in the number of female smokers was significant, which diminished to approximately 350 in 1940 and 190 in 1950,a dip of 160 per 1000 people in 20 years.
