The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about energy consumption in the USA since 1980, with projections until 2030.
The provided line graph illustrates the trends of six different fuel consumption in the USA over a 50-year period.
Overall, Petrol and Oil, as well as Coal and Natural Gas, experienced gradual increases and are projected to continue growing at a similar pace, except for Natural Gas. Other fuels, on the other hand, showed minimal variation.
Initially, petrol and oil started at 35 quadrillion units, which dropped to just above 30 within the next five years, and then rose back to a similar level. Subsequently, it exhibited fluctuations but followed an upward trend and is expected to reach around 50 quadrillion units by 2030.
Natural Gas, which initially occupied 20 quadrillion units in 1980, experienced a slight decline and is projected to continue fluctuating upward, reaching approximately 25 quadrillion units until 2015, after which it will stabilize.
Coal, on the other hand, started at a level of 4 quadrillion units below that of Natural Gas and exhibited a similar pattern of fluctuation, surpassing the quadrillion unit mark by 2030.
Nuclear, Solar/Wind, and Hydropower all started at approximately 4 quadrillion units and experienced slight increases for around seven years. Nuclear and Solar/Wind showed minor fluctuations before experiencing marginal upward shifts. In contrast, hydropower remained constant from 2012 onwards.
