The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how It looks now.
The map illustrates how a public library changed over the period of 20 years.
It is clearly seen that there are significant modernizations at the central library and other new facilities are installed to meet the demand of readers.
Looking at the center of the library, one notable change is that two sets of tables and chairs have been removed. In the northwest, the room which used to store CDs, videos, and computer games has been enlarged to place two new sofas, children’s fiction books and it can also be utilized to hold storytelling events there. On the left side of the library, while the reading room is replaced by a computer room, adult fiction books that were in between this room and the entertainment space have been converted to all reference books.
In the northeast corner, the children’s books volume now becomes the lecture room. Outside this room, the area for adult non-fiction books has been changed to adult fiction ones and there are also a new information desk and three self-service machines. Finally, in the southeast of the map, the enquiry desk place has become a cafe space.
