In 2011,the total New Zealand's population was 4,381,269 compared to 4,410,284 in 2012, which rose by 0,6%. Meanwhile, the number of people aged over 65 witnessed a sharp increase, 4% from 573,946 to 596,903. Simultaneously, the figure for people aged 40-64 years old went up about 4.0%.
