The line graph illustrates the proportion of tourists in millions from the United Kingdom who took a plan to another country and those who visited to the UK between 1979 to 1999, and the bar chart shows the most popular countries that UK residents visited in 1999.

Overall, the visits from and to the United Kingdom rose gradually, and the highest country that UK citizens visited was France.

First, the figure for visits abroad by UK residents was outnumbered the number of visitors to UK over 20 years period, at the start of the timeframe they were similar with approximately 10 million, but at the end of the period the total amount of visits abroad rose dramatically from 10 million to slightly over 50 million, On the other hand, the proportion of visitors to the UK increased marginally from 10 million to just under 30 million.

Secondly, it is clear that France was the highest country to visit in 1999, with around 10 million of UK visitors, followed by Spain at approximately 9 million. And the lowest countries were Turkey, Greece and USA, at around 2, 3, 4 million visitors respectively
