The given line graphs illustrate the transformation in possession of electrical devices and quantity of time committed to household chores in one nation from 1920 to 2019.
Overall, the proportions of the ownership of all the three electrical appliances increased. It is also noticeable that the number of hours for housework decreased over time.
Regarding the first line graph, all the three categories had an upward tendency. The washing machine was the appliance which were used the most, at exactly 40% in the beginning. Its percentage grew by 30% 40 years later. Vacuum cleaner began in the second place, at 30% and then rose by 20% each 20 years afterwards. The refrigerator was the device which was used the least in households, nearly 0% in the start; however, it experienced a surge to 90% during the next 40 years. From 1960, the washing machine grew steadily to approximately 75% despite a minor fall in 1980. The vacuum cleaner rose to 100% in 2000 and stay unchanged until the final year. The refrigerator increased to 100% in 1980 and then remained the same until 2000.
Concerning the second line graph, the hours for housework witnessed a downward trend throughout the period of time. Staring at 50 hours, the figure decreased by 15% per 20 years. It kept going down to around 15% in 1980, and stayed there 20 years later. The number of hours almost reached 10% in the final year.
