The tables below give information abou sales of Fairtrade*-labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries.
The two tables provide information the amount of money spent on Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five European countries namely, UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden in the year of 1999 and 2004.
Overall, the UK was the highest amount of sale for fairtrade-labelled coffee while Switzerland sales on bananas in 2004. The majority countries sales were increased on those products and the biggest rise sales were in the UK and Switzerland.
According to the first table, in 1999, in terms of selling coffee, the largest amount of coffee sale in the Switzerland which was 3 million euro but after five years the highest amount selling coffee observed in UK was 20 million euro in 2004. The sales amount of coffee in Denmark, Belgium, Sweden were 1.8, 1, 0.8 million euro respectively in 1999 and these amount increased after five years which were 2, 1.7 and 1 million euro in 2004. Sweden was lowest amount of coffee sales in both years.
On the second table, Switzerland was the largest amount of fairtrade-labelled of bananas was sold was 15 million of euro which was the largest amount among four countries. The amount of money was increased in 2004 was 47 million euro which was more than three time higher than 1999. The amount of bananas sold in the Uk and Belgium were 1, 0.6 million euro and the amount raised to 5.5 and 4 million respectively. Interestingly, the sales amount decreased in Sweden and Denmark in 2004 than that of 1999.
