The line graph gives information about the rate of the total population regarding senior citizens who are 65 and above from 1940 to 2040 in Japan, Sweden and USA.
As an overall, it is clear that generally, the percentage of this old generations shows the upward trend throughout the period. Notably, Japan is expected to have a significant change in its total headcount over the period.
As for the USA and Sweden, the rate of the elderly who are over 65 started at nearly 9% in 1940 and two decades; there was a slight increase to 10%. Since then, it rose to nearly 15% and expected to remain the stable almost by 2020. However, it is anticipated to soar dramatically to about 24% in the final year. Meanwhile, Although the data for Sweden continued to a little bit lower than the figure of the USA until 1990, since 2000, these patterns have changed entirely, exceeding the USA's figures since 2000.
In the meantime, in Japan, the percentage of the population aged 65 and over was only 5%, which was the smallest and dropped to about 3% in 1960, and it remained the constant for 20 years. Ten years later, its figure gradually increased, and it is estimated to jump to almost 28%, which is the highest rate among all given categories.
