Painting of Rembrandt
The article states that the famous portrait of an elderly woman was not created by Rembrandt and it mentions three main reasons. However, the lecturer opposes the view and believes that the famous painting was created by Rembrandt. He refutes all the three reasons of the reading.
First, the reading states that the dress of woman in the portrait is not consistent. She wore white linen cap, which actually used by the servant at that time and she wore a luxurious coat. However, the lectures refutes opposes this point by stating that a fore collar was added with the original painting and it made the painting inconsistent.
Second, the article claims that Rembrandt’s work embodied the mixture of light and dark, which is absent in this painting. The lecturer disagrees with this claim by saying that because of addition of fore color the mixture of dark and light had been destroyed.
Finally, the reading avers that the back of the paining was made by adding several wood panel, which is not usually seen at Rembrandt’s work. However, the lecturer opposes this claim by saying that the extra wood panel was added with the original painting later because of inserting fore collar.
