your friend is having problems getting on with a colleague at work. He/she has written to you for some advice
In your letter
-Thank your friend for their letter
- suggest some ways your friend could improve the situation
- offer some encouragement
Dear Ray,
How are you? How is family? I have been up to a lot of tasks at home and office, hence, I could not reply your letter early. Anyway, I would be glad to always respond to you with meaningful information and advice as quickly as possible.
As regards the letter you wrote to me seeking for my advice on how to get along with your colleague in the office, first and foremost, I would like to appreciate your effort to seek for my humble opinion, thanks for having some faith in me.
Naturally, people always have their differences that reflect in the activities which might unease the people in their vicinity; however, it is our duty to clear the air on whatever issue we have against each other. In this situation, I think you would get to the root of the problem if you can just set up a meeting between both of you and have a lengthy discussion. Another option is to write a letter to him to apologize for whatever mistake you have made.
Although I know it is may dent your ego to take up such responsibility and make the decision but you have to be strong and prove your maturity. Even if the solutions do not seem right at the moment, just think about the future and create some harmonious relationship.
Anyway, let me know what you think about these ideas.
Your friend,
Cole
