tpo 26 Integrated task
The passage discusses that zebra mussels' invasion cannot be stopped and these animals pose a serious threat to fresh water fish population. In contrast, the professor explains that nowadays people can control this situation and because in the past peaple had not knowledge about this problem they could not control this condition. The professor in the lecture rejects all the mentioned reasons in the text.
First, the text claims that in n the past ships helped to spead of ebra mussel into new habitats. The professor provides a solution to solve this problem. She describes that ships can balance their cargo in the ocean instead of in a new place. So, in this way they can prevent of spreading the zebra mussel into new area.
Second, the reading argues that these new marine animals can be dominant species in their new location. However, the professor rebuts this idea by explaining that this idea is just true at the begining. After a while, the birds can change their diet because they can realized they have a new source of food. As a result, birds can eat these species. Consequently, these species are not the dominant species at all.
Third, the article states zebra misseles are likely to cause a decline in the overall fish population in habitats they become dominant. The professor rejects this idea, too by describing that although existence of these new species have some disadvantages, but have some benefits to. For example, they can lead to create a opportunity for another fish to become a dominant species.
