The graphs illustrate the sales of Fairtrade- labeled coffee and bananas in five different European countries via the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden in 1999 and 2004. Overall, there was a significant increase in the sales of coffee while another graph shows a gently decrease in Sweden and Denmark in this two different years.
To begin with, in the sales of coffee, Denmark occupied the highest amount of money at 1,8 million euros in 1999 while the United Kingdom made up 20 million euros and topped the list in 2000. In both years, Sweden accounted for the lowest sales of coffee. It is also interesting to note that, there was a similar upward trend can be observed in all five countries. Especially, the sale in the United Kingdom in 2004 was thirteen times that of 1999. In contrast, Denmark and Sweden show a slight increase from 1,8 to 2 and 0,8 to 1 respectively. Whereas, the sales in Switzerland halved in 1999 compared to 2004.
When we compared the sales between these countries, we can see that Switzerland made up the highest sales in both years. While the United Kingdom occupied the lowest sales at 1 million euros in 1999, Denmark accounted for just only 0,9 in 2004. Except for Sweden and Denmark, all other countries show a similar upward trend. There was a three times increase in Switzerland, followed by a six times went up in the United Kingdom and Belgium from 1 to 5,5 and 0,6 to 6 respectively. In contrast, the other two countries' sales halved in 1999 and 2004.
