The graph shows the various fuel energies consumed by the USA in 1980 and the predictions until 2030 which was taken from a survey in 2008.
Overall, it is clear that petrol and oil were the most significant consumption in 1980 and the trend is forecasted to increase even more in the following years.
In 1980, petrol and oil accounted for quadrillion units of 35 which was the greatest value than any others. Although some fluctuations in the initial years, it is expected that by 2030, it would reach its peak with the historical record of 50 quadrillion units. Also, 15-20 quadrillion units of coal and natural gas were the next highest fuel consumption in the USA. Even though natural gas will increase slightly only to about less than 5, coal is projected to become the second-highest consumption with a portion of 30 quadrillion units after outnumbering natural gas in 2015.
Besides, the other three minor groups of fuel namely, nuclear, solar, and hydropower accounting for the same amount to around 4 quadrillion units in the initial year are not going to increase that much in 50 years of the period, except hydropower which is anticipated to fall slightly to approximately 1.5 quadrillion units.
