The diagram given is a multiple line graph showing comparison of percentage of older population of three different countries from year 1940 to 2040.
According to the graph, there are only a few differences in the percentages of population of USA and Sweden whereas the growth shown by Japan’s population is entirely different to these. Overall, the trend of all three countries shows a rise in population.
The population percentage of USA given is almost 10% in 1940 and it increases to 15% in 1980. It stays steady for the next 40 years but increases suddenly and reaches almost 23% in 2040. The population of Sweden is shown to be 2% less than that of USA. It follows the same trend as USA till 1989, lagging 1-2% behind it though. In 2020 the number rises to 20% and is followed by a drop in the next ten years. In 2040 it reaches to its maximum limit of 25%.
The population of Japan is 5% in 1940, the least among the three countries. This further decreases to almost 3% till 1980 but bounces back to the initial number in 2000. In 2030 the population percentage grows to 10% and reaches its peak of 27% in 2040.
