The line graph illustrates the average carbon-dioxide emissions per person between the years of 1967 to 2007 in the four countries. These include UK, Italy, Sweden and Portugal.
Generally we observe that the UK and Sweden have been successful in bringing down their emissions of carbon-dioxide between the years of 1967 to 2007. On the contrary, Italy and Portugal saw a significant increase in the emissions in the same time period.
It’s evident that in Italy, the emissions rose sharply in the 1970s and are now just below 8 metric tons. The Portugal also shows quite a sudden rise in emissions in the 1990s.
The Sweden shows an interesting trend, its emissions spiked sharply in the 1970s and then dropped as suddenly in the 1980s as it has risen. Although the emissions in the UK has been steadily decreasing, they are still highest among all at 9 metric tons.
Even though the lowest emissions are recorded in Portugal and Sweden, the earlier shows an upward trend. Whereas the UK which shows a downwards trend, still has the highest emissions.
