You need a translation of a document into a different language and you have a friend who speaks that language.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
- Explain what the document is and why you need a translation
- Explain why this is urgent and important for you
- Ask your friend if and when he/she will be able to help
Dear Long,
Hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to ask if you could lend me a helping hand in translating a document from English into French.
As you may know, I’m applying for a summer job at a French company. They required a copy of my student identification card and they insist that if it is in another language, they want it to be translated into French because the owner couldn’t read English.
There are already a lot of applications as of now for this position and if I don’t act quickly, I will lose this opportunity. I really want to take this job because my financial situation is not great right now, and you are the only person I know who is fluent in French.
The document is very short with only a few words, so please when you have some free time today or tomorrow, could you do me a favour and set aside maybe 30 minutes and help me? I will come directly to your apartment to get this done if you don’t mind.
Please let me know the time I could come over. Big thanks in advance!
Your friend,
Kevin
