The pie charts illustrate the proportion of world forest and timber in 5 various regions.
It is noticeable that the percentage of global forest in Africa is the highest, the opposite is true for the figure in Asia. Also, while the share of timber in North America is the highest, the rate of Africa in this category is the lowest.
Africa makes up 27% of the percentage of global forest, compared with 25% and 18% recorded in the figure of that in North America and Europe, respectively. In terms of timber, a mere 9% goes to Africa while the rate of timber in Europe is 20% and North America takes the largest proportion of timber, at 30%.
Turning to the other categories, the share of world forest in South American is 16%, 2% higher than the proportion of that in Asia. This trend can also be seen when we look at the second pie chart. To be specific, South America accounts for 23% of the percentage of timber while the equivalent figure in Asia is 20%.
