The table compares the six various parts of the world interms of how many forest area squares in millions of hetares between 1990 and 2005.
Overall, it is clear that the square of woodland area in Europe was by far highest, while the figure in Oceania took only a minority.
With regard to Europe, whose figure topped the list during given period, at 989 million hectars in 1990, and then it continued its upward trend to reach the highest point of 1001 millions hectars in the final year. Opposite trends, can be seen in the figure for South America and Africa, at 946 and 749 millions hectars in 1990, respectively, but later gradually decreased to 882 and 691 millions hectars accordingly in 2005.
As for Asia, starting at 576 million hectars in 1990, this figure experienced a morderate growth to 584 at the end of the period, followed by stabilitis in the figure for North America and Oceania, at around 705 and 198 million hectars respectively.
