Compare traditional learning and online learning
While in-person learning environments offer many advantages, including flexibility, self-paced learning, and a wide range of online programs. The traditional classroom setting still plays a significant role in educating learners across the globe as it provides intrinsic values that are unattainable in an online learning environment. In aggregate, learners will be better off in their academic journeys with a combination of both online and offline learning methods if applied appropriately and complementally
When students engage in online courses, they get the chance to study at their own pace; thus, they can finish their courses faster than expected. This is something that students who study in a face-to-face environment do not have, as they have to follow a rigid-studying plan set out by a teacher, which may impede the flexibility of students’ learning pace. While online learning offers a diversity courses that are tailored to suit the level of the learners so that learners can monitor their progress easily, some students studying in physical environments appear to be incompetent with the materials or the level of the courses they are pursuing and cannot keep up with the lessons. The threat of the Covid pandemic created a greater need for virtual communication and online study, which act as subtitles for the physical learning environment to keep students up-to-date with the latest knowledge. Therefore, many students learn valuable skills needed for their later career advancement. This is an advantageous point that learners are entitled to through online learning, which is unachievable in any other form of education during a time of uncertainty.
However, the traditional classroom situation remained the most popular form of study as it provides students opportunities to interact face-to-face with peers and distinctive values that otherwise cannot be achieved in an online-learning situation. This is an extra social benefit as well as educational support as students meet the same peers in class every lesson, which in turn fosters friendships and social development among students. Moreover, students get the opportunity for hands-on, structured learning instead of being taught with written lectures and self-directed activities distance learning provides. In the classroom, there is always a sense of collaboration and enthusiastic dedication between teachers and students that constitute a unique atmosphere that is unfeasible in an online learning setting. Furthermore, teaching in a classroom setting opens up opportunities for teachers to manage students well and tailor their lessons to keep them hooked, eventually resulting in an effective learning environment.
In conclusion, although the online learning environment offers valuable means for students to get extra knowledge more flexibly, the old-fashioned way of education remains indispensable among the populace, given its many benefits. In general, if students make use of online learning well as a supplement gateway to get more knowledge, they will be academically improved in a much more comprehensive way.
