The chart shows global sales of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013.
The chart gives information about the sales figures for the five leading cell phone corporations, including Samsung, Apple, Nokia, LG, and ZTE from 2009 to 2013.
In general, it is apparent that both Nokia and Samsung were dominant in the market, making the most market share. In contrast, the global sales of Apple, LG, and ZTE were significantly lower.
Looking at the two highest manufacturers, in 2009, Nokia played an important part in the global cell phone market, accounting for over 400 million units, which was almost twice the units sold by the second highest-selling producer - Samsung. In the next two years, there was a great increase in sales units worldwide for the Samsung brand, whereas Nokia underwent a slight decline. In the last examined year, it turned out that Samsung experienced a dramatical surge, standing at approximately 450 million units, which made this brand become the strongest company in the mobile phone market. On the contrary, Nokia’s global sales plummeted to 250 million units. This figure was around half of the starting examined period.
Turning to the other manufacturers, it is interesting that the sales figures of Apple brand made up a minority size in 2009 and then witnessed a drastic rise up to more than 100 million units in 2013. Meanwhile, the LG company gradually dropped from 110 million units to around 80 million units. In addition, ZTE sold about 50 million mobile phones in 2009, and this figure remained stable during the rest of the period.
