The chart displays the percentage of British people making charitable donations by age range between 1990 and 2010.
In general, people aged 18-50 donated more in 1990 while the over 50 British gave more money to charity by 2010.
As can be seen, approximately 42% of people aged 36-50 contributed to charity, which is the highest figure of 1990. By contrast, those 18-25-year-old counterparts donated the least, with only 17%. In 2010, however, the proportion soon fell to 35% and 7% respectively. The same trend also went for the age of 26 - 35, whose percentage of people in 1990 was 1,2 times higher than 2010.
On the other hand, it is witnessed that more British aged over 50 made charitable donation in 2010 than their counterparts two decades earlier. From the percentage of 35% in 1990, the number of the age 51-65 experienced an increase to approximately 40%, the top data among different age ranges of 2010. The figure then experienced a slight fall by 2% and 5% respectively when it comes to the age of over 65.
