Some argue that music mainly serves as a way for individuals to reduce their stress and anxiety. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some people debate that music is a remarkable tool helping people to protect their overwhelmed emotional state and agitation. I, personally, state the same perspective of this issue which will be deliberated more below.
On the one side, music relieves anxiety feelings, but hampering individuals’ cognitive development. With easy listening of various music genres, they most likely get distracted by the rhythm and lyrics. Published by scholarship journal of teaching-learning performance, primarily students, while listening hip hop and EDM music, their concentration in reading and memorising would be impaired and less efficient. Furthermore, the excessive noise level of music could disturb inhabitants’ peace and tranquillity including the quality of sleeping during productive ages such as students and workers. It is proven by San Clamente, California that noise nuisance permits range from 07.00am to 10.00pm under any circumstances – which the noise ordinance laws aim to increase welfare and well-being among societies to run on their next activities.
On the flip side, this activity could stabilise individuals’ mood to avoid depressions, currently suffered by modern people. It appears that the combination of jazz and classic music substantially takes place as psychotherapy to help the majority of women witnessing postpartum disorder (baby blues). This is induced by birth trauma and lack of husband’s support reported by Department of Health, Australia. In addition, being able to foster body strength during workout session by listening either calm or beat music become the preference of fitness instructors. Unconsciously, ones emit much energy as the beats can stimulate brain activity to synchronise body movements in order to be more energetic and powerful.
In conclusion, in my standpoint, to release a sense of stressful and worry through music are more beneficial to some respects. This includes healing ones’ trauma as well as maximising regular exercises. This is as long as people become conscious to obey the noise ordinance laws.
