3. You recently learned that the local council has decided to demolish a particular building in your area. You disagree with this decision and believe the building benefits the community. Write a letter to the local councilor.
In your letter
• explain what you find valuable about the building.
• Suggest what improvements could be made to the building.
• Describe how retaining the building could benefit the community as a whole.
Dear Mr. Thomas,
I hope this letter finds you with best of health. I am writing this letter to express my deep concern and disagreement with the demolition of our community's oldest building.
The building holds a significant historical value and is a symbol of our cultural heritage. Its beautiful carving and orthodox design depicts the vibrant era of our ancestor. I understand that building is currently in a disastrous condition and is a risk for adject buildings. But demolition is perhaps not a rational decision to make. Rather, there could be multiple ways to renovate the building to make preserve it as a historical treasure.
I suggest to renovate the crucial areas at first to prevent the risk of building to collapse altogether. Furthermore, after renovation the building can be used as a general gathering of our community. Also, from tourism revenue perspective, the building can be a site seeing. Additionally, the building can be commercialized for conducting events and parties.
I request you to reconsider the demolition of the building and brainstorm the alternatives suggested. I look forward to your final decision.
Your Sincerely,
Sam
