The two line graphs illustrate the percentage of washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner and the time which people spent on housework from 1920 to 2019.
Overall, the percentage of households with electrical appliances were in rising trend between 1920 to 2019. However, the number of hours of housework per week was in decreased tendency from 1920 to 2019.
As we can see in the first line graph, it is clear that refrigerator was the lowest percentage in 1920 among the other electrical appliances, which just accounted for 1%of households. However, it occupied the highest proportion (90%) after 1960, and held the same proportion between 1980 to 2019, which accounted for 100%. Meanwhile, vacuum cleaner was in the same trend, which occupied 30% to 100% between 1920 and 2000, and stayed stable in 2019. Moreover, the trend of washing machine showed a flatuation trend, which increased from 40% to 70% between 1920 and 1960, while declined 5% in 1980 and increased to 75% in 2019.
The number of doing housework showed a decreased trend, which needed to spend 50 hours per week in 1920 and then slowly declined to 10 hours a week in 2019.
