The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The pie charts illustrate the changes that have taken place in the consumption of three different kinds of nutrients, including sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar, in typical meals.
Overall, while the average percentage of sodium and saturated fat was the largest at dinner, snacks were observed as the time that people digested added sugar the most. Additionally, the figures for these nutrients were not high in the morning.
Regarding sodium, nearly 50% of this nutrient was consumed when people had dinner, but only 29% at lunch, followed by 14% at breakfast and snacks. Turning to saturated fat, it can be seen that 37% of this nutritious element was provided in food at dinner, 21% for snacks, 26% for lunch, and only 16% for breakfast.
Looking at the consumption of added sugar, a large proportion of extra sugar was experienced through types of snacks, at 42%, nearly doubling the figure at dinner. However, breakfast and lunch witnessed more modest figures when providing food including this chemical nutrient, with just 16% and 19% respectively.
