The bar charts below provide information about percentages of students who are proficient in a foreign language in different countries.
The given bar chart gives information about the rate of students being fluent in a second language in six nations namely China, Romania, Thailand, India, Russia, and Vietnam in the year of 2000.
Overall, as can be seen from the chart, it is clear that India was by far the country that had the highest proportion of students proficient in a foreign language. In addition, the females in these six countries both had a tendency to be more fluent in an alternative language than the males, except for Thailand.
According to the men, the rate of Indian learners being proficient in a non-native language was the highest, at about 56%, while the opposite was true for Chinese, with the figure at roughly 17%. At the same time, approximately 42% of Romanian students proficient in a foreign language were male. Additionally, males accounted for about 32%, 35%, and 39% of the total learners being fluent in a second language in Thailand, Russia, and Vietnam respectively.
In terms of women, the percentage of pupils fluent in a second language in India remained the highest, at about 68%, and was the highest figure in the chart. Meanwhile, the figures for China and Thailand were significantly lower, at roughly 32% each. Moreover, 65%, 42%, and 56% were the rate of Romanian, Russian, and Vietnamese learners being proficient in a second language respectively.
