Both author and lecturer offer two opposing views on the claim of harm to the United States birds. While the reading part lists some facts as negative side-effects of human expansion on the Birds; however, the professor counters these specific points. She mentions to some clues to call into the question for the information in the text.
First of all, the professor refutes the fact that the increment of people settlements demolishes the whole birds' habitats. However, in the lecture this fact is nominated as one of threatens for the birds and their habitats. As the lecturer states, even though, the urbanism destroys some birds' habitats, it provides a better condition for other birds. For instance, in the city, there is an appropriate condition for pigeon, the existence of pigeon in cities pave the path for others birds, which prey on the pigeon. Consequently, as the urban life furnishes the sufficient situation for some types of birds, they shape new ecological chain.
Next, the passage mentions to agriculture activities as another fear factor for the birds' habitat; inasmuch as, the requirement for more crops leads to the further destroying of birds’ habitats. On the other hand, the professor asserts that the advancement of agriculture technics is underestimating in this paragraph. Based on the lecturer acclaims, today, in the United States the land demand for the cultivation is declining day by day. Moreover, in the future the crops fertility will enhance; in this condition, they will be capable of producing more crop pre unit of land.
Finally, meanwhile, the reading passage presumes that the usage of pesticides leads to the determination of birds or the decrement their successful reproducing; the professor casts doubt on the accuracy of this hypothesis. As she asserts, although the old pesticides owned the toxic substance which was dangerous for the birds, nowadays scientist are aware of this footprint of pesticides. Thus, they produce the pesticides which in less toxic than previous ones. Besides, in the cultivation, the farmers use the crops which are pest-resistance. Hence, there is no requirement of the toxic pesticide.
