.The charts illustrate the proportion of people in cities, rural areas, and towns who were born in Australia and those who were born overseas in 1995 and 2010.
Overall, the number of people born in cities always dominated both in and outside Australia. The second place is rural areas, but in 2010, towns nearly passed the countryside to have more residents born. Both rural areas and towns had a tendency to decrease.
Beginning in 1995 in Australia, the percentage of people who were born was about 50 percent, while this was around 65 percent in 2010. 30 percent was the proportion in rural areas, but it fall to reach 15 percent in 2010, this was also equal to the figure of people who were born in towns, which was at 20 percent in 1995.
In 1995, the number of people who were born abroad was 60 percent and this added up to 10 percent in 2010. For rural areas, the data was 40 percent and this plummeted to 5 percent. Meanwhile, the drop in the percentage of people who were born in towns was smaller, starting at 13 percent and then at 8 percent.
