The bar chart gives some information about the percentage of people who have own house and rented in the United Kingdom from 1918 to 2011.
It is obvious that households in owned accommodation have downward trend while the trend of people who in rented increased in the United Kingdom between 1918 and 2011. By 1971 was the only time that both percentage had equal.
As can be seen, after that a decreased in 1918 from about 78% in households in owned accommodation have a plagued trend for two years and decline slightly until nearly 31% from 1953 to 1991. It has not change a lot from 2001 and raised around 7% in 2011. While, rented accommodation by 1918 has approximately 23% and after that increased did not change in two consecutive year. It has grown gradually more than 48% until 2001 and in last year fall nearly 5% in 2011. These two groups reached each other in 1971 of under 50%.
As a result, their percentage all completely mirror of each other. The rate of people who rented home growth while owned households dropped during this period that showed people get poorer.
