The bar chart gives some information about the percentage of people who have owned houses and rented in the United Kingdom from 1918 to 2011.
It is obvious that households in owned accommodation have a downward trend while the trend of people who rented increased in the United Kingdom between 1918 and 2011. By 1971 was the only time that both percentages were equal.
As can be seen, after that, a decrease in 1918 from about 78% in households in owned accommodation have a plagued trend for two years and declined slightly until nearly 31% from 1953 to 1991. It has not changed a lot from 2001 and raised around 7% in 2011. While rented accommodation by 1918 had approximately 23% and after that increase did not change in two consecutive years. It grew gradually by more than 48% until 2001 and in last year fell nearly 5% in 2011. These two groups reached each other in 1971 of under 50%.
As a result, their percentage all completely mirror each other. The rate of people who rented homes grew while owned households dropped during this period showing people getting poorer.
