The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram illustrates the steps required to produce sugar from sugar canes. Overall, sugar production is implemented through seven steps, including planting and harvesting sugar canes, providing a syrup from their juice, and extracting sugar crystals from the syrup.
The first stage of sugar production begins on the field. The planted seeds require at least a year to grow into sugar canes. These canes are then harvested either by manual labor or machinery. Next, a certain tool crushes the sugar canes, yielding the juice necessary for the next stage.
In the second stage of the production, the resulting juice must be turned into syrup. To this end, a limestone filter is utilized to obtain purified juice, which will then be heated. The purpose of heating is to evaporate the juice, turning it so that it becomes syrup. The syrup is then centrifuged, which is the process that separates sugar crystals from the syrup. Finally, the sugar crystals will be dried and cooled, making the sugar ready to enter the market.
