The diagram illustrates the man-made process by which aluminium cans are recycled.
Overall, this process consists of 6 steps, beginning with the collection of used cans and culminating with the use of recycled cans.
In the initial stage of the process, used cans which are thrown into a rubbish bin specialized for aluminium products only are collected by a truck. After this, those cans are delivered to a factory where they go through more sophisticated processes. They are firstly cleaned and then sorted into different types. Once the sorting is done, they are shredded and next are compressed.
The next stage starts with the compressed cans being heated and then melting into a liquid. Subsequently, this liquid is rolled into rolls with a thickness of 2.5mm- 6mm. The rolls are then recycled and made into cans ready to be reused, but only 74% of which are from recycled rolls, thereby completing the process.
