Essay topics:

The first graph shows the number of train passengers from 2000 to 2009; the second compares the percentage of trains running on time and target in the period.

The line graphs present the variations in how many train passengers (in millions) and the percentage of trains running on time compared with the goal. Overall, both categories registered a surge in the number of train passengers and the proportion of trains running on time, with the target remaining unchanged throughout the period.

Starting at above 35 million, the number of passengers climbed to merely 42% before experiencing a drop to the initial data in 2003. After rocketing to its peak two years later (about 47%), the figure fell sharply towards the end of the period to more than 40% in 2009.

In terms of the proportion of trains running on time compared to the target, with the goal being consistently at 95%, the actual data in the first year had a considerable gap of 3% lower. It is also noticeable that the figure met its target in 2002 and 2006 before plunging to the starting point of 92% sharp. After that, the percentage of trains running on time witnessed a soar to 96% in 2008 and plateaued in 2009 to close the period.
