In 1970, Indonesia had the lowest percentage of people living in cities, around 15%, while the proportion of city residents of Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand were 31%, 30%, and 19% respectively. Over the following 20 years, both four countries increased relatively steadily, by 1990, Philippines had risen to nearly 50%.
From 1990 to 2040, Philippines saw a decrease in city-dwellers by roughly 10% in 2010, before rising to approximately 55% in 2040.
