The graph below gives information about the preferred leisure activities of Australian children.
The graph shows the percentage of preferences of two groups of boys and girls in Australia in leisure activities.
Overall, it can be seen that watching tv or videos has the highest proportion in which is preferred in both groups, while the figure for skateboarding or rollerblading has the opposite tendency.
All boys and girls of the 5-14 age group in Australia are fascinated by watching tv or videos. Moreover, electronic or computer games are much more preferred by boys than girls. The figure for boys is over 80% which is 20% higher than for girls. Likewise, bike riding also attracts boys more than girls. Boys’ involvement in this activity is nearly 80%, whereas the proportion of girls is almost 60%.
The percentage of boys between 5 and 14 years old who enjoy skateboarding or rollerblading are 40% which almost doubles the figure for girls, at slightly more than 20%. On the other hand, the figure for girls spending their free time on art and crafts is much higher than their male counterparts, at just under 60% and approximately 40% respectively.
