The graph below shows the amount of money spent on books in Germany, France, Italy and Austria between 1995 to 2005.

The total amount of money spent on books during 10 years span - 1995 to 2005 - are shown in the line graph below. The countries taken into consideration are Germany, France, Italy, and Austria.
Overall, it can be seen that Germany was and remained the country that spent the most during that period, going from 80 million dollars to 90 million in 10 years. Although all the countries showed an increase in the number of dollars spent on books, not each of them followed a steady extension.
In 1995, France stated 55 million on the purchase of books, with an increase to 70 million between 2001 and 2003. That number reached a peak of 75 in 2005. Austria, however, more than doubled its share of dollars during the decade, going from 30 million to a little over 70, after 2 years of stationary expenditure.
Last but not least, Italy's outgo in books purchases had its up and downs: it started at 50 million and grew of 5 million in 1997, but it went back to where it was 2 years later. The next 6 years saw a steady but important increase that led Italy to spend a little over 60 million dollars on books in 2005.
