The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004.

The line graph illustrated the average consumption of fish and three kinds of meat in European countries over a period of 25 years.

Overall, the amount of fish consumed in Europe remained at the lowest point between 1979 and 2004. The quantity of chicken was eaten expected to see an upward trend, while the figure of beef, lamb, and fish decreased over that time.

At the beginning, in 1979, around 220 grams were beef is eaten which are used by a person per week, compared to over 150 grams of lamb, 140 grams of chicken and approximate 60 grams for fish consumption. The amount of fish which was eaten followed a similar pattern to beef and lamb with a drop of roughly 35 grams from 1979 to 1981. By contrast, chicken consumption rose dramatically to nearly 170 grams, followed by a downturn.

Looking into the future, there was a gradual decrease in the amount of fish consumed, reaching the lowest point at just under 50 grams per person per week in 2004. By 2004, around 250 grams of chicken was used in Europe, the highest point of all the period. In contrast, the figures for beef and lamp consumed were 100 grams and over 50 grams respectively.
