Overall, business and financial services saw a remarkable rise in the contribution to the UK economy, manufacturing witnessed a steady decrease and agriculture undergone a dramatic decline by the end of the century.
Manufacturing accounted for 45% of the total contribution in the UK economy in 1900 and then decreased steadily and reached around 20% in 2000. By contrast, Business and financial rose remarkably during the century. To be exact, it begin at around 5% in 1900, then increased rapidly and reached around 35% in 2000.
Agriculture on the other hand, made the most contributions in the beginning to the economy, at around 50% in 1900 and 1950. Then, it shrunk steeply to almost 10% in 1975 and then steadily decreased and its contribution was only around 2% by the end of the century.
