The line graph compares the percentage of people who were 65 years old and above for a century started from 1940 in three different countries (Japan, Sweden and USA).

It can be seen that from 1940 to 2040, the proportion of eldery people in USA and Sweden gradually increased, while the figure was decrising in Japan. However, the percentage predicted will grow up in the future for all countries shown on the graph.

In the beginning,people who aged 65 and over in Sweden and USA were accounted for approximately 7% and 9% respectively, and reached to the same proportion at 14% for both countries in 2000. These trends predicted will remain rising to 25% and about 27% at the last year given.

However, in Japan, only 5% old people was initiated in 1940 and decreased to the next 6 decades to around 3% to 4%, otherwise, in the future the predicted proportion will be dramatically jumping to about 27% in 2040.
