The pie charts compare the proportions of using water on 3 different usages, which are in industry, agriculture and domestic, among six main areas, which are South – North America, Europe, Africa, Central and South East Asia, of the world. Overall, agriculture consumes a lot of water while industry steps at 2nd position and the ratios are alternative in different areas.
Obviously, agriculture is dominant over the world and the consumed water amount reaches highest proportion at 88% in Asia and lowest proportion at 32% in Europe. The less-developed areas have a high consumed water proportion in agriculture at more than 80% such as: 88% in Central Asia, 84% in Africa, 81% in South East Asia and 71% in South America. In developed areas, such as North America and Europe, the consumed water proportions in agriculture are lower than less-developed areas but still account for more than 30%.
The consumed water in industry accounts around a half propotion. In developed areas, the proportion of consumed water has a slightly difference, such as: 53% in Europe and 48% in North Africa. There is a big contrary in less-developed areas, the proportions account a minority, such as: 12% in South East Asia and 5% in Central Asia.
